Walk with GRACE - commissioned paintings on milk cans part II

Started painting the second milk can this past week - had a real mental block and just couldn't come up with a design.  Since the theme is "There is no place like hope" I again settled for a 'yellow brick road' theme similar to the first can.  Only this time I went with a floral garden path with birdhouse, birdbath and fruit tree.  On the reverse side I went back to the simple rose floral which I love to paint.

The can to the right is the can from the previous post with the eagle flying over the field and I added sunflowers to the opposite side as shown here.  I like for people to have a choice in their paintings and it is always nice to provide a second option on these milk cans for a change of pace.

The second can completed for the GRACE 2011 to the right is the Garden path on one side and a Rose floarl on the opposite side.  It is an amazing event. If you are interested in having a team, being part of a team, just want to go out on your own to get contributions, or simply want to come and experience the walk event, call the GRACE phone at 604-8255. We would love to have you join us for the 2010 Walk With GRACE!

Once finished with that I started on the second can for another order and went with a lovely chicken farm theme.  I can't wait to do this design again.  Not sure who's design it is, but one of my artist friends on facebook had posted a picture similar so I sort of copied the design.  I love painting free form without a pattern.  It's a great challenge and at the same time you are allowed to be even more creative by not sticking with a pattern.  Can't paint a straight line so I have figured, why use a pattern.

Walk with Grace - commissioned painting on milk can

This is a commissioned painting I recently completed on a milk can for the Walk with Grace Fundraiser coming up in August.  I have one more to complete - kind of a work in progress.  Not sure what the completed design was going to be when I started, much like this one.  It's funny how the creative flow works and what comes out of it.  I wasn't especially crazy about this painting in all honesty, until I added the Eagle flying and that seemed to be the touch that was needed.  I hope everyone likes it.  Last year's milk can was a big hit, so hopefully this year's two cans will be a nice feature as well

Here is a little bit about the G.R.A.C.E event.  The citizens of Richland County and surrounding communities have formed G.R.A.C.E., Inc. which stands for Greater Richland Area Cancer Elimination. Please take time to view our Mission & Vision Statements here.
We host an annual event called Walk With Grace. The next event will be held on August 12th, 2011. The Walk is held “In memory of those who have died, in honor of those who have survived, and in thanks to those who have cared.” Our community has been touched deeply by cancer and it is our goal to help assist cancer patients with needs and also support research to someday eliminate cancer. Your support will be appreciated.  For more information:  http://demo.walkwithgrace.com/
